We have some exciting news we’ll be sharing in a series of blog posts. In recently updating our values, we realized that integrity is a large part of who we are as individuals and as an organization. To us, integrity includes authenticity and transparency. So, we’d like to share with you the process we’ve been going through as we form this organization. Honestly, it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride. We hope you’ll join us on this journey. Buckle up!
So … for the past few weeks, we’ve been working on rewriting our mission, vision and value statements. We wanted to more accurately reflect our (the founders’) shared vision, make the mission more expansive, and make sure our values let you know who we are. It took us three weeks (!) of meeting online, writing and researching, and assimilating and integrating what was written the week before. What we finally came up with is scary and exciting, and scary and hopeful, and just a little bit scary.
Why so scary? Have you ever dreamed a dream so real that you weren’t sure if it was real when you woke up the next morning? Have you ever wanted something so much that you could almost taste it and touch it? Have you ever seen something just at the edge of your eyeball or have a word at the tip of your tongue -- those “barely out of reach” moments that are frustrating because they’re tangible but, really, not? So, it’s almost like a phantom that you created but is kinda haunting your house. You’re not really sure what it is, but it sure does have power, and potential. And, you wonder if when you do capture it, what will it do to you and what is your responsibility towards it? That’s what it was like writing these MVVs. It felt this way because we realized what a huge responsibility we are stepping into.

Next post: Stay tuned for a copy of the long-assed email we sent to our guides. (OMG.. we really gotta pay those guys for having to put up with us. hehe .. not really. But, really.) It’s a long read. And, none of of the guides have gotten through it yet. Heck, even one of the founders is taking it in bits and pieces with long walks in between. I’ll send a free hat (when we get them done) to the first person who reads through it and can summarize it for me (from Frances).
